This Christmas Eve surprise for Meg and Brett’s family was months in the making. Their daughter had been bitten by a dog when she was younger, which left her with a natural fear of puppies and dogs. To help her heal and build confidence, we organized several “play dates” with Sookie and her littermates leading up to the holiday.
Through these slow, supervised interactions, we watched her fear transform into curiosity, and eventually, pure love. By the time Christmas Eve arrived, she wasn’t just ready for a puppy—she was ready for her puppy. While Sookie isn’t quite ready to leave our care permanently, she spent a magical Christmas Eve at home, marking a massive milestone in this young girl’s journey of healing.

Meg, an incredible advocate for our mission, also introduced us to Congregations for Kids (CFK). We are thrilled to announce our first official event with CFK is planned for March 2026 at Forest Hills Church! This partnership will allow us to bring the same healing “Peace, Love, and Understanding” to foster children and families in the Charlotte area.
The Result: Our mission is to prove that with the right temperament and a patient approach, the bond between a child and a puppy can overcome even the deepest fears.
